im really uncomfortable with cis kin using the term dysphoria /: or cis people using the word at all /:

While that is understandable, dysphoria is not something limited to Trans* people.

Gender Dysphoria yes, however there are many many other reasons a person might experience dysphoria, including as a symptom for a number of mental health issues.

Dysphoria (semantically opposite of euphoria) is a medically recognized mental and emotional condition in which a person experiences intense feelings of depression, discontent, and in some cases indifference to the world around them.[1]

As said before this can be caused by a number of different issues. There was a post going around about it a while ago, listing the various disorders with Dysphoria as a symptom, I’ll see if I can find it.

thank you for your input! i guess i’ve never heard of it being used for mental health issues, i was under the impression it was specifically a trans issue. i’d be glad to read the post if you find it!

No problem =] While Gender dysphoria is specific to trans* people, body dysphoria in general can happen to people for all sorts of reasons ( some of the disorders I can think of off the top of my head that were mentioned were bipolar, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Depression…and a whole slew of other stuff)

I’ll try to find it, it was posted in the kin tag a month or two ago so its pretty far back ..<

roguesareth is my hero uwu

Dysphoria can also be caused by some physical illnesses, sometimes just general life events, side effects of medications, and sometimes from withdrawals.

I can vouch for having experiences of dysphoria, and I’m cis. However, I am also mentally ill - Major Depressive Disorder and Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified.

So yes, the word itself has many situations it can be fit under. Hope this also helps!
